Data: Boeing 747 May – August 1970 Schedule

Published at 1200GMT 19MAY25

The Boeing 747 aircraft earlier this year celebrated its 55th anniversary of its first commercial (passenger) service, when Pan Am Boeing 747 entered revenue service on 22JAN70, from New York JFK to London Heathrow.

The following is the series of Boeing 747 scheduled passenger service in its first Northern summer season, focusing on the period of 01MAY70 – 31AUG70.

Data sources for these schedules include ABC World Airways Guide, May 1970. The May 1970 edition only lists available schedule filed by the airline as of April 1970, therefore certain Boeing 747 schedules from June 1970 onwards may not be included. As a result, schedule research also includes sources from United Air Lines Timetable, July 1, 1970 (San Francisco, Oakland & San Jose edition), as well as timetable collection from Northwest Airlines History Center. The ABC World Airways Guide and United Air Lines Timetable are from AeroRoutes’ personal timetable collections.

Majority of effective dates listed are based on the outbound flight. Note in some cases the actual launch date of each Boeing 747 service is slightly different from the timetable listing.

Except the Northwest Airlines schedule taken from “Northwest Airlines History Center”, sharing of this data to other mainstream airline news websites, including social media accounts, for content purposes (regardless the language) requires permission.
