Chinese Carriers Feb/Mar 2026 Slashes Over 60% Japan Flights – 25JAN26 Update

Chinese carriers last week continue to revise planned passenger service to Japan for the remainder of Northern winter 2025/26 season, as additional reductions are being reflected in schedule filing in the OAG schedules analyser, as well as the GDS.

Based on OAG schedules analyser filing comparison 16NOV25 vs 25JAN26, on one-way basis from China to Japan, Chinese carriers in February 2026 have reduced from 4508 flights and 860947 seats to 1783 flights and 370146 seats, while March 2026 (01-28MAR26) sees reduction from 4386 flights and 828427 seats to 1606 flights and 329474 seats. The latest reductions in February now see 60.5% flights and 57% capacity loss, while March 2026 (01-28MAR26) sees 63.4% flights and 60.2% capacity loss. Additional reductions filed by individual carriers may not fully reflected as of 25JAN26.

Chinese carriers in February 2020 (01-29FEB20) scheduled up to 2457 one-way flights from China to Japan, up to 464115 seats while March 2020 (01-28MAR20) scheduled up to 578 flights with up to 112869 seats.

Reductions for key airports including Osaka Kansai (KIX), Tokyo Haneda (HND) and Tokyo Narita (NRT), based on 16NOV25 vs 25JAN26 as follows, figures based on one-way flights from China.

Latest summary of cancelled routes or reduced flights by individual Chinese carriers between late-January 2026 and late-March 2026 as follows. Some of these changes have been highlighted in last week’s report. In addition to last week’s AeroRoutes report that Chinese carriers in total have or will cancel up to 51 routes, by March 2026, this will further increase to 53 as Air China cancels Beijing Capital – Sapporo New Chitose from 02MAR26 and Dalian – Fukuoka from 26JAN26.
