Data: Thailand NS26 Route Connectivity Losses

Foreword: AeroRoutes’ contents in the first half of July 2026 was published in Thailand, leading to inspiration of this post. Repost or reference by certain aviation websites including Simple Flying, Aviation A2Z, Flightline, Aviator.aero …etc. is strictly prohibited (These websites/platform has long history of relying on AeroRoutes and during Airlineroute-era for network development-related contents). General media reference/repost is permitted.

This post was originally drafted on 07JUL26, but did not appear until 22JUL26. All data below are based on schedule filing as of 19JUL26. In addition, despite this post focuses on the reduction of route connectivity, selected airlines are scheduled to introduce new routes or expanded frequencies, including recently launched service by flydubai to Bangkok Don Mueang.

Due to the regional conflict in the Middle East, Thailand in the second quarter of 2026 saw approximate 13% flights and capacity reductions for international service (based on one-way departure from Thailand), based on schedule filing in the OAG 22MAR26 vs 19JUL26, for the period of 15APR26 – 30JUN26.

On international service, one-way departure from Thailand has been reduced from 46372 flights / 10203925 seats to 40437 flights / 8923255 seats, representing 12.8% flights and 12.6% capacity reductions. Overall domestic routes within Thailand saw reduction from 54731 flights / 9482911 seats to 44213 flights / 7614089 seats, translate into 19% flight and 19.7% capacity reductions.

Although the figures are based on schedule filing in the OAG, listing for virtual ticketing carrier World Ticket under W1-coded flight numbers are excluded during AeroRoutes' data review. Also, these figures are approximate due to schedule information is not in sync with actual flight operations (such as Philippines AirAsia’s planned Bangkok Don Mueang – Cebu service being cancelled, however in the OAG there are listings for 2 round-trip flights).

Approximately 50 routes with no other nonstop options from the same airport (as Bangkok includes both Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi) gradually cancelled throughout the season or saw shortened operation leading to short term cancellations, mostly in effect since the second quarter of 2026. Despite the high number of routes cancellations, certain routes are served as scheduled tour operator charters, not regular operations.
